The Geometric ewers
The Seuso treasure also includes two ewers of identical size, shape and decoration, with a capacity of approximately 4 litres, which constituted a set with the wash basin. They were water ewers, from which hot and cold water was poured during daily washing or banquets. Both originally had thumbpieces and hinged flap lids. The top part of their handle is ornamented with openwork tendril motifs and the rim and base are decorated with beads. The shoulders are articulated by parallel wavy grooves. The body of the ewers made of thin sheets are covered with geometric and floral and plant patterns rendered with great imagination. These motifs are arranged in circular panels by interlacing gilded bands.
