Reign of Emperor Julian

The last member of the Constantine dynasty, Emperor Julian, was also the last pagan ruler. During his short reign he tried to reinstate the earlier religious traditions opposed to Christianity, and as a philosopher he also conducted a theoretical debate with Christianity.
